She'd been after me to read this Rick Riordan series for a while. I had her copy of The Lightning Thief sitting on my shelf for months. Finally I picked it up a couple of weeks ago, and then ended up devouring the entire series - five books, lots of pages. It was soooo good. Yep, she was right again. (Back in the day, she also recommended Harry Potter. I was skeptical back then too. I was hesitant to read a very popular young readers book. And both of these series are now on my favorite's list.)So, my Reading Rainbow schpill would be:

And as like a bonus - Riordan has a follow up series Heroes of Olympus, and another very popular Kane series! Sweet! This guy is quite the busy writer!

Hooray! I knew you'd love these - especially with your love for Mythology. I'm so glad you finally listened. Ha!
Finished reading the first one two days ago...it was a bit of a struggle starting out because the writing was like a 12 year olds thoughts...but it finally clicked for me...loved the concept of creating new mythology as a continuation of the old.
